We are human and all so complex and different, but it's beautiful how similar we can be as well.

Feeling a fool or somewhat odd is so me.! I am a dork and a nerd at heart. Goofing off with my clients and having more fun is the heart of my sessions. In the series ' The Flow Pose' of creating images we dance, laugh and cheer as twirling in heels is not for the faint of heart. There is a skill is doing this and I wear chucks so I will never master that!!!

When I think of a story I have so many come to mind. I have had a large group of women recently share with me how they did not want to been seen for a period of their life. I can so relate to this. Most of my high school years I did not want to be seen. Then I rise and repeat this behavior again in my late 20's. I had gained so much weight. I hit the 335 lb mark and was heartbroken that I gave into my emotions by feeding them. I decided to change a few habits and one was not drinking 6 cokes a day. It's been 17 years since and when I do indulge in a refreshing coke I can barely drink one... how did I drink 6?!

The other habit I decided I would give up was beating myself up! I got so use to tear myself down daily that this was the hardest one to change. Well, I did it and I started to lose the weight. I lost 100 lbs in 6 months. It took me another 2 years to lose 50 more. But the biggest lesson I got was to love myself and honor my voice. As I look back, I think this was the begging of me shifting what I photographed. Over the following years I stopped commercial photography (on the scale I was doing 100% this and very little of any other). My focus became photographing women and telling their story. Sharing you story is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself, your family, your friends, and the world! In your story is the heart that will inspire someone else.

Think back a minute to your biggest break through. That moment when you did not give up... You got up! You stood up for yourself and for something that you believed in. Imagine sharing your story with someone that could be inspired by you!

I know this very minute someone is waiting to hear yours.

XO
